Biography - Victor Johnson Kid music that grooves Drawing from country blues, swing and traditional styles of music from around the world, Victor plays tunes that please the ear, soothe the heart, unite the tribes, reconnect the generations and get folks feeling good and having fun. Raised by folk and blues revivalists of the 60's, Victor grew up listening to the music of Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, John Hurt and Rev. Gary Davis.
In 2003 Victor started focusing on music for kids that the whole family could enjoy and since has become a leading kids artist in the United States with a growing international reputation for making cool kid music. Victor’s music has appeared on national television, NPR, Nick Jr and Parenting magazines as well as commercials in the U.S. and Europe. He has won several awards including 3 Parents’ Choice Silver Awards and NAPPA Honors. Victor has the lead off track on Putumayo Kids’ award winning Folk Playground CD with artists like Leon Redbone, Dan Zanes, Eric Bibb and Michelle Shocked. Workshops Victor is on faculty at the Americana Songwriting Academy and gives workshops and talks about music, philosophy and how to see life in musical ways to a variety of groups and individuals. Victor performs primarily in the Pacific Northwest to be close to home and a good father but only lives an hour from the Portland Int. airport for musical or speaking hops.
